This brings back memories that are so precious. I used to sing this as a lullaby to my children. It takes me to a time in my life when music was real.

@skyriders1 Waaaahoo! The legendary Music Mountain.

One of the best singer/songwriters of all time. A once in a lifetime talent. We still love you, Carole!

@skyriders1 Thanks, I've been searching for confirmation of that since I first heard the song in 1972. I knew about Canaan Connecticut, since I lived just over the state line in Massachusetts. I was pretty sure even then she was singing about Canaan, Connecticut. Also, the stanza:
"Oh, I want to be there in the wintertime
With a fireplace burning to warm me
And you to hold me when it's stormy"
...almost screams New England.

Beautiful, beautiful song...

There is no artist quite like Carole King, then AND NOW!

I believe in God when I see and hear Carole King.
-
@skyriders1 Well, she's Jewish, so it likely serves as a double metaphor for Israel itself.
