  • Hello, I am very tempted to get myself a mountain ocarinas, i currently play a 12 hole soprano g ocarina, as well as the pendant. The one thing about the mountain ocarinas that seems to hold me back is the sound, it sounds squeaky and too high pitched at times, does playing this ocarina in person make your ears hurt? or if you play a traditional ocarina do you prefer its sound over it? thank you for reading!

  • The range of the Mountain G is almost exactly the same as your soprano G. If that one doesn't make your ears hurt, the Mountain won't either. If by "traditional" you mean sweet potato, I do have a couple of them, but I pretty much gave them up once I started playing the Mountain. I prefer the "open" sound of the Mountain.

  • i'm kinda new to the entire ocarina scene. So i have a small question.

How is the tone of a G Warmstone compared to a pendant soprano C? is it just as shrieking, or more flute like?

  • The pitch of the pendant would be higher. The *tone* of the pendant would depend upon the construction of the particular ocarina. They can be high without shrieking.

  • how well would you say the warmstone stands up against scratches? like would you be comfortable throwing it in your pocket with your keys? or will that damage the polished finish

  • I have the warmstone with me continuously since I bought it: in my pocket, around my neck, in my briefcase, etc. It's been dropped countless times. There are some very faint scratches, but they buff out easily with a little kitchen cleaning powder, just as you'd use on a Corian counter top. Then just rinse it out and it's good to go. I also use Windex pretty regularly to keep it clean and glossy.

  • "Not that kind of player!" Priceless!

    Nice review, lad!

  • Could or have you done a comparison between the aluminum and warmstone? I was wondering if because of the aluminum material would there be a more airy tone to it compared to the warmstone. I have a polycarbonate but i would love either a warmstone or aluminum in the key of G i don't like the hardwood very much. Could you tell me basically the tone difference from warmstone and the aluminum?

  • I've only read your comments on the forum and that's exactly how I pictured your voice (If that's possible) 0_0

  • Thank you so much for this review ubi
