Der belgische ABC 16 VDZC-1000-166 A- Fahrdiesel der 264 011-8 (Voith Maxima 40 CC, Wiebe Nr.13) mit annähernd 5000 PS wird in Wilhelmshaven angelassen und nach kurzer Leerlaufphase wieder abgestellt. Ein kleiner Rundgang durch den Maschinenraum.

264 011-8 (Voith Maxima 40 CC), one of the latest german high performance diesel locomotives, of H.F.Wiebe rail construction company fires up it´s belgian ABC 16 VDZC-1000-166 A prime mover of nearly 5000 hp at Wilhelmshaven, Germany and shuts it down again after a short time of idle.

  • @MrFlavioValentino You're absolutely right: The entire vessel is designed and built by Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik GmbH & Co. KG at Kiel. They only get the prime mover from ABC, Gent. In general these machines could haul any train, but in fact freight stocks and stuff are their only business to date so they have no train power supply line. However gadgets like this could be added prospectively if customers request them. Also the top speed of ~74,56 mph (120 km/h) is not an unextendable limit.

  • @ Dokker62 der Mehrverbrauch einer 232 dürfte wohl mit dem größeren Motor zusammenhängen. Die größten motoren der 218er haben rund 115 Liter Hubraum, der 5D49 der Ludmillas hat 220 Liter.

  • @dickeeier90 Natürlich ist das einer der Gründe. Ich hätte erläutern sollen, dass in den erwähnten Verkehren dieselben Züge in denselben Umläufen bespannt werden, eine 216/ 218 o.ä. also ausreichend ist, weshalb der Einsatz der deutlich unwirtschaftlicheren 232/ 233 nicht gerechtfertigt werden kann.

  • Nice sound. I wish we could have the Voith Maxima in the UK as they look nicer than the GE Class 70 Diesel Locomotives that Freightliner operate. Also the power unit would be great to use in the Class 60 as well as a lot of the locomotives are stored at Toton doing nothing.

  • @Dokker62 Ya cool, they only thing that lets me down is that they dont have the staff for passenger trains and their top speed. Im trying to start a train company in Portugal. I'll be looking out for some German old staff. but not Voith Maxima or Gravita too expensive. :P
