Stenciling on a buttercream cake is easy as long as your surface icing is dry. Pop your cake in the fridge or freezer so it crusts over, then use a creamy consistency of buttercream to spread over the stencil. Just be gentle when going around the cake so you don't mess up what you just did.

  • I used buttercream - just make it a nice smooth consistency so it spreads easily without pressing so hard you break your base icing.
