I rode my first century ride on my recumbent trike from Irvine, CA to Oceanside, CA to see the start of the Race Across America (RAAM) and cheer on my friends on team Bent Up Cycles - one of the four man teams in the race. Bent Up is riding recumbent bikes.

  • I bought an ICE Adventure 3 FS.

  • @geoknee Nice Trike! I am sure you will have a great time with it!

  • Just bought my first trike for Dana at Bent Up Cycles! I can't wait to do some of these rides. Oceanside was my home town. I live in Palm Springs now. Thanks for the beautiful videos!

  • @geoknee That's great! Have fun with the trike! If it gets too hot out there you can always come down to the beach and ride! That is quite a haul to go to Bentup from Palm Springs. What brand/model of trike did you get?

  • Great vid, Glenn! Lots of fun. Good you all were able to show up to support Team Bent Up, too! WTG!!!

  • @RogerZoul - Thanks. I had been planning to ride to Oceanside for a few months because I knew I wanted to see them off this year. So it seemed only fitting that I do my first century ride to see the RAAM teams off! (I mean, 100 miles was the least I could do considering the distance they were going!) ;-) I will have to do this every year for the start of RAAM!

  • awesome video. looking forward to my first century. Just got my road bike FINALLY. haha. been wanting one for 2 years. excited for my century february 11, 2012 in tour de palm springs.

  • what kinda speed ya get?

  • @gavtatu - well, I was hurting a bit (muscles tightened up a bit) at about the 80 mile mark as we started climbing some more hills... but worked through it and felt a lot better later. One of the DF riders does century's every weekend.. he had no problems. The other two guys did well, the furthest they have ever gone... but both were kinda pooped out too. We all did pretty well. But I suspect I my butt felt better! ;-)

  • how did your DF'er mates feel compared to the trikes after 100 miles !!
