  • @molecularmadness @grasd2 (cont.) But we can still appreciate Mayweather Jr. as a great boxer, pound-for-pound one of the greatest boxers around today. The whole idea of a battle of the sexes match was stupid in the first place. I don't know why King even agreed to take part in such a ridiculous charade.

  • @molecularmadness @grasd2 We all know a top male player in his prime would beat a top female player in her prime. I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with this idea. Especially in today's era where physicality and strength has become so important. It still doesn't invalidate the women's game. Most of us know a prime Mike Tyson would easily knock out a prime Mayweather Jr. too. That's why we have different weight classes.

  • I never trust these hyped exhibition matches. It's like watching "professional" wrestling.

  • he still beat Margaret Court at the age of 55, she was the best female tennis player in the world at the time. if men and women are really equal in tennis, how could that possibly happen? using the men and women are truly equal in athletics logic, that would be like Björn Borg coming out of retirement and beating Djokovic right now. anyone could tell you that wouldn't be possible though.

  • Truth be told, Bobby was having arm problems at the time and was taking a medicine which caused his legs to be shaky. If you will note in the match he served and vollied a lot because he didn't have the legs to stay out there. Also because Bobby had defeated Margret Court so badly and Billie Jean was not as good as her, he didn't train as hard as he did for the first match. If BJK had given him a rematch he would have beaten her badly but BJK blackballed him from playing anymore ladies.

  • I truly believe that Bobby Riggs was a decent guy and not the chauvanistic pig that the media and society made him out to be. Like his counterpart Billie Jean King,he was simply playing a role assigned to him and a lot of women who really only viewed King as their symbol of femininity found it more convenient to hate his guts.

  • the riggs v king battle of the sexes in sept 1973 was at the houston astrodome i think it must have been on tv or at least recorded, but folk on here say they cant find any clips ????.

  • pffft...men are better athletes than women. An old man playing a professional female tennis player at her peak? How is that an actual contest?? Federer would annihilate any of the top 5 women (as would any other guy int he top 20).

  • This guy must have had a fun time in life.

  • we were discussing this today, so i looked this up, and this guy was a really nice guy, i love him, i was very young in 73, but i hadnt heard of this game for a long time, brings back a lot of memories thanks for uploading
