Addition - August '11: I've noticed several comments about "we need to focus on actual endangered species" and the likes. Of COURSE we do, but my entire point in this video is that we will eventually lead to this with grey wolves due to our hunting habits. This is how we got into this state with Asian Elephants, Snow Leopard, Red Wolf, etc. Can't you see we're just going to make the same mistake again, then pour out hundreds of resources to save the creature we caused to become endangered?
I also need to make this point. If you were starving, trying to feed your children, and in front of you a full buffet was laid out to eat, left unsupervised... but behind you a cow was running around. Are you seriously going to turn around and chase, gut and eat that cow? No. Who would? You really don't deserve to be SHOT for eating the buffet, though, do you?
*Note: Wolf Hunters. No-one here wants to see your comments about saving your livestock; or about deer and elk being killed. These species are OVERPOPULATED, as you say wolves are; therefore shouldnt they share the same fate, in your opinion? Nah, because they make you money. Complete show of greed.
Live stock can be saved by many other means that do not involve violence, for example the low-howl system (a machine that emits a low howl to ward wolves away.)
Wolves are killed for fun/fur in the main, and this is no reason to take the life of an innocent creature.
They are NOT vicious at all. They do kill livestock, yes, but that is because they must eat to survive, its a natural instinct that can't be prevented. Besides, the livestock will be sent to butchers anyway, so the wolf is technically doing no harm. There has NEVER been a recorded Wolf attack on a human (unless the Wolf has been ill or mad).
Also, many farmers complain that there have been several killings of their livestock, and each kill has only had a few bites of food taken. The reason for this is the enclosure the livestock is in, and that surplus killing is the killing of several prey animals too numerous to eat at one sitting. During a surplus-kill, a predator's killing instinct is continually sparked off by the stimuli of so many prey animals unable to escape, so that the predator cannot stop killing. wolves had eaten only a few parts from half the calves and not touched the rest. Wolves sometimes only eat a part of their surplus-killed prey, like the tail or the internal organs.
However, conditions in nature which favour surplus killing are unusual. Consequently surplus killing in the wild is rare, though fairly common in domestic situations in which the prey animals are usually confined and unable to escape the attackers.
With unrestricted hunting, forest clearing and intensive livestock grazing there is little natural prey, therefore forcing the wolves to feed on domestic animals and garbage.
Also, DO NOT support aerial hunting. This method involves chasing a pack of wolves until exhaustion and then shooting them.
Comment IF you agree! If you disagree, feel free to comment without being aggresive; i'm open to both opinions, but if your comment is just swearing and talking about how annoying wolves are then i'll just ignore it.
holy shit, an all time honour
