  • Your not starting on the plate correctly you are starting an illegal pitch!

  • In the women's and youth divisions the pivot foot must be in contact with the ground...not in men's fastpitchsoftball (because this gives advantage to the pitcher). A crow hop is defined as a replanting of the pivot foot prior to delivering the pitch. The umpire call comes from the base ump, not home plate.

  • @DurplePurple Same here:D

  • (Sorry it cut me off)

Also, it is very illegal to "jump" during a pitch. Commonly called "crow hopping", when (for a right-handed pitcher) the right foot leaves the ground and replants, it is an illegal pitch. The right foot starts on the mound, the left foot kicks forward, and the right foot DRAGS on the ground (not heavily though). If you've ever looked at the mound after an inning of pitching, there will sometimes be a treach dug up where the foot dragged. The right foot must remain in conta

  • As a HS ball player, I was told that you have to "present" the ball as you step onto the mound. Whether that is rule or courtesy to the ump, I have no idea. I don't think there is a rule as to whether or not you have to hide it afterwards, or when you show it again.

Anyways, softball pitchers have less need to hide the ball because ball movement comes more from the snap, not how they hold the ball. For example, a change-up can be done with a backhand push (snap) or an "OK" grip.

    Also, it is

  • look aat her musclessssss, the girl who is pitching. shiatzzzz, i wanna learn softballl :c

  • @rebeccad94 its not illegal to start your forward motion with your hand together. Why not keep your throwing hand holding the ball hidden as long as possible....there is nothing in the rules that says you have to swing your hand back in your wind up or anything as to when you have to separate your hands after you come out of your pause.

  • @21bdo Its illegal to "hide the ball."

  • @titanx9 cause its not baseball its softball

  • Hardball is easier for me.
