The Luigi model was made by VL-Tone, and the "Secret Woods" by Celux.

Perhaps you should change the lives count icon from a Mario head to a Green Mushroom. That way, it could apply to both Mario and Luigi, and would also serve as a nice little way to differ from the original game.

This video is oudated. If you choose Mario, "M" is shown, while "L" is displayed if you choose Luigi. They also have slightly different sounds (Luigi's pitch is lower than Mario's).

when are you planning to release the first version?

It will be released as a "final" version. I'm pretty close to finishing it, so probably two or three weeks.

What normally pisses me off is silly SM64 texture edits like "SUPER NARUTO 56" or "WACKY MARIO GLITCH TEXTURE"

I'm glad to see an actual pack of levels that is not a silly texture edit.
