Right now that I've got your attention and that you're reading this first...a brief update.
First off I've been strength training for a year and 5 months now going on 6. Recently I've been training grip development (On top of planche training) because I turn my hands forwards when I do planches, this way I'm relying more on my fingers to stable myself. The downside to this is that my wrists are more prone to injury in doing so.
Anyways I began to wonder that if I focus on training my grip I could hold my planche for a longer duration, and turns out its true! My last video was an example of my success where I execute 5 straddle planche push ups. However....
My wrists have been taking a hell of a beating from the amount of pressure with the planching and grip training...and I have now been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome :o( Those of you who do not know what it is....long story short its a nerve problem and its permenant :'o(
Now whenever I planche I pick up a tingly pins and needles type feeling in my left hand, thus not letting me hold it as long as I normally could. My right hand however is still in good shape and I now plan to keep it that way and that does mean I'm going to dial down on the planches a tad, if I continue at my rate I will have to consider carpal tunnel release surgery which I do not want.
Currently following a stretching program provided by a physiotherapist I know which is working a treat for me! :D Now this video, after feeling ambititous and a little sad... I had to give it a go, ya can't blame me!! I've been able to do this for a while, just never actually recorded it until now, bad timing eh :o(
Train safe ya'll
Love your wrists.
Great work. I know that initial bend comes from stabilising but you straighten them out well :) Well done sir
