Gran Turismo 5 stick shift bug

This bug ruins the game for anyone trying to use an H-pattern stick shifter and clutch like those on the G27 or Fanatec wheels. I let off the throttle all the way and fully stomped the clutch pedal on every one of these attempted shifts. You can see the throttle indicated in the HUD. I've driven only manual cars in real life so I know how to do this.

You could either call that a bug or the game being extremely picky. It's happened to me a bit. I think the game just doesn't recognize the shift if it detects the gear lever in neutral before the clutch is depressed. It sucks, but you just need to time it perfectly. I assume that Polyphony wanted to eliminate the speed advantage players could get from using the clutch that was evident in GT5P.
