A similar thing happened to me. I drank alcohol in embarasing amounts, for 30 yrs. I did not control alcohol, it controled me. One day I drank more than my normal 9-12 drinks a day and I knew I needed help. I prayed a simple prayer, "Lord help me to stop drinking". The next day as I got home from work, I did drink but it was different and I drank less than half of normal. The next day, again I drank but only had 3 drinks. THE DESIRE OR NEED TO DRINK WAS GONE! I have been sober for 2yrs.
