I've been watching the mets and baseball since 1972. Best first baseman I ever saw by far. He made the sacrafice bunt a bad play for the other team.

You are right mattingly should be in the reason why he isn't in because he was on terrible teams for most of his career with the yanks. Mex should be in there to because even though he doesn't have the stats he was a clutch hitter and defensively he was Amazing. Also he an Mvp and I think two WS rings its just the stats.

In response to the person who thinks that this is only about watching players knock a ball around, i challenge you to this. Try to hit a curveball. Not just in real life from the best, but even in a VIDEOGAME. Then try to to understand what the word beloved means. Try to understand that this game is more than just a game. It involves real people in real situations. Granted, we are just humans competing against other humans, but isn't that the way business is? Competition? Keep it real.
