My Immortal - Evanescence - Band Version on Piano (Played on a Concert Grand)

The thing your will probably notice first and foremost about this video is the surroundings - took a trip down to Vale Piano's in Evasham. It's a great place, and the people there are very knowledgeable. As I walked through the door, I made a B-Line for this Schimmel 213 7 and a half foot Concert Grand. A bargain at just £38,000 (!) Mind you, the quality of just about everything reflects the price.

I saw the privilege of playing on this exquisite instrument an opportunity to record a few song (more to come). It was very kind of the staff to let me. This - the Band Version of "My Immortal" by Evanescence is a song I've been wanting to upload for a while but haven't have the chance. I think My Immortal is a song that would appeal to a lot of people - with the gorgeous classical vocals of Amy Lee feeling all the dynamics, and a wonderful proper Piano timbre mixed with the powerful orchestra to highlight the severity of the lyrics.

Anyone who has seen Piano version's of this song on YouTube will almost certainly have come across the Scott Davis version. It's a version that a lot of people cover, and why not? It's a very complete version; however, I am the sort of person who likes to try something new and put my own slant on things rather than copy something that's already been done. This is my interpretation of the Band version; I may upload my rendition of the Album version at a later date.

Recorded on my iPhone - so sound may not be the best. Hope you all like it though :)

amazingg. i sang along the whole way haha. ahh i wish i could go to a piano shop and try all the different kinds out. i have a baby grande conover and i LOVE it, i just want to shop around for different kinds. which one is your favorite?

@lovelivepiano: Haha! Thanks :). Oh right. Very nice :). My favourite make of Piano would probably be Yamaha; they have fantastic depth and just the right balance of warmth and brightness. I have also played briefly on a Steinway Model D, which sounded exceptional! The Schimmel that I played on in this video is very good too. There are a lot of great makes out there. You've just gotta find one that suits your own personal taste.
