The 727's were very loud. But I flew on a 727 and found it fairly quiet inside. Best thing about them was the smoke.

The 727, Tu-154 and Trident had their glorious era that has sadly come to a close. I want it back. Forget about fuel efficiency and noise. Noise is the best part of flying!

A formidable workhorse of commercial aviation in the 1970s - why couldn't they just be re-engined to meet FAA noise and pollution regulations? (Well, at least UPS has Boeing 727-100s that had been refitted with the quieter Rolls Royce Tay engines, or so I remember.)
