Because we have two right-wing parties, and our president is every bit as progressive as Richard fucking Nixon on most fronts (choosing to mask his lack of a progressive backbone with "the perfect is the enemy of the good").

Her numbers were right with regard to public option having an overwhelmingly huge public mandate (as well as public-only albeit via a weaker mandate, closer to 55% for single-payer). It's run for profit because congress is beholden to lobbyists.

What is this trend I'm seeing among conservatives that when they are making arguments on this subject ( I swear!) take on the tone of a twelve year old trying to mumble their way through a sentence but taking on a warbly cutesy voice for affect. This is what I saw on the girl with the bad perm in this video and various congressional and senatorial GOP men. It's wierd when they start acting alike, as if on some mansonian brainwash, but when it's like twelve year olds they imitate...very odd!!
