HD High Speed Police Chase in Pottawatomie County Oklahoma

TECUMSEH, Oklahoma -- A man has been arrested after Pottawatomie County Sheriff's deputies were led on a high-speed pursuit that began at Highway 177 northbound near Hardesty Road on the west side of Shawnee.

The suspect passed 180th Street on Highway 9 at speeds near 100 mph. Deputies put down stop sticks that caused the tire of the vehicle to blow. Police have taken one individual into custody between 98th and 108th streets on Highway 9 in Tecumseh.

Authorities are now searching for a second Tecumseh shooting suspect. Police said the second man bailed from the vehicle and went in and robbed a Tecumseh pharmacy and has fled on foot.

The chase began at about 10 a.m. when the suspect, and at least one other suspect, fled after a robbery and took off in a blue van headed near Pink. The suspects ditched the van and carjacked a white Oldsmobile in Tecumseh and headed west on Highway 9 at speeds topping 100 mph.

Authorities say at one point the suspect shot at them through the window during the chase. But the suspect threw the gun out the window after officers busted one of his tires using stop sticks.

Tecumseh schools were on lock down during the chase, but it was lifted by the afternoon.


No injuries were reported. No names were released.
