Antz
By paste, Sarah Schoemann, and Michael Ren
You are an ant! You were struck by radioactive lightning, and now you have the power to grow and shrink (certain) things at will! And it's lucky you do, because your anthill has just been invaded by spiders and their bee slaves! This 2D platformer focuses on the movements of a tiny ant navigating an ant-hill while avoiding traps and enemy insects. The main mechanic the game explores is the Ant's ability to scale elements in its environment as it moves through various obstacles Since the game was designed using found images as source material the insect sprites that populate the underground maze appear as jointed cut-outs clipped from black and white illustrations while the environment is built from collaged surface textures sourced from color photographs.
This game uses a gamepad or keyboard settings that can be set when the game is started.
Programming and integration by Eric, environment graphics by Mike, enemy sprites by Sarah, "tutorial blocks" by Eric, level design by everyone.
