The strong, tantalizing, alluring liquid danced on each one of her taste buds. Her eyelashes curved down, hiding what globes they were so blessed to frame, for a quick, swift moment. Small, slightly visible wrinkles formed as she shook of the adrenaline rushing through her veins.

Her now-trembling hands grasped the bottle off of the bar counter, in one, abrupt movement, she was cascading down the streets, in an un-graceful fashion. The bottle was now lacking of the sweet, sweet alcohol. She lifted it to her lips, tilting it at an angle that allowed her to drink, effortlessly. Her feet were walking down an unknown path, the alchohol had distracted her from the location she needed to be at. Where the hell am I? She thought, her lips quivering as the moon faded further away and the sky threatened to stop illuminating.

A grimace unlit her face as the world began to spin, her surroundings were set on motion blur; slowly pausing and dragging in a blurry manner. Her burnt sienna-filled-in eyes stinged as she felt her body escape her control. She gasped, invisible weight pushed at her ,then her knees buckled down, swirving her of the pavement and against the cement road.

She eyed one of the painted, never-ending, yellow lines on the road and struggled to get a grip. Her index finger and thumb pinched her algid skin, she wasn't dreaming. This was really happening. Her head turned to each side, looking for the slightest sight of safety. Nothing.

Finally, she managed to grab control of what was truly hers, she stumbled once or twice, but she managed to standup . . . Long enough to see two, luminous, glaring-yellow lights steering her way.

. . .

What had happened? She wondered, feeling numb and uneasy. Had she died and gone to heaven? That thought made her laugh. Heaven? She knew that Hell was, most-likely, going to be her whereabouts when she passed away.

So, what was she? She was thinking, right? So, she's alive . . . Or wait. Angels can think. Ugh, this is so confusing, She suddenly wished that she could get a straight answer - not an answer that lead onto a whole chain of questions.

"Wakey-wakey! Oh, c'mon! You better be awake, I risked my leg for you." Said a male, with a slightly-cocky voice, but the smallest bit of concern coated his tone.

"Oh shut up, Joe! You're leg got scraped and bled, boo-hoo! You're. Not. A. Hero." Another male voice scoffed.

She felt the pain easen from her chest; she was alive. Alive! Her eyes were stinging with pain, but the curiosity was hurting her even more. She wanted to open her eyes and unveil the truth of what happened - considering all she remembered was leaving her bestfriend's 20th birthday party.

"Kevin, I just saw her finger twitch."The first, male voice whispered, as if talking at a normal volume would stop her movements.

She felt her eyelids slowly shuffle up, her eyelashes folded back and through her abnormally dark, golden-bronze eyes, she received an eyefull on the two males infront of her. Her eyes widened to an unusual width and she looked down at her body.

Ah hell, not one of those ugly hospital gowns! She thought, not sure whether she could find her voice yet. And the egg shell, white walls weren't doing it for the whole 'almost-death' situation.

One of the males stared at her in happiness, his henna-melted eyes boring into the image of her. His dark, loose waves tilted upwards in a slight mohawk - just without the bald part. She noticed that his lips curled up as he stood up on his feet.

"You're awake,"He grinned, not daring to remove his eyes from the ill goddess infront of him. "Kevin, go get a doctor."

She gulped, trying to lean up, but unusual, medical equipment knocked her back down. He was looking at her lopsidedly, the grin still on his face. "So, you must have a name." When she didn't reply, he added. "Mine's Joe."

She cleared her throat, lapping her tongue over her teeth, just before answering his question. "Selena." Okay, so now he owed her an answer, right? "Uhm, what happened? Why are you here? Why am I in a hospital?" . . . Or three answers.

He chuckled at her cuteness, offering a cunning smile as he lifted his right hip onto the bedside she wasn't occupying. "You almost got hit by a car, but luckily, I was there to save you. You can say thank you, now."

I'd do more than thank you, if I was Selena, Joe. ;)
