From DirecTV's broadcast of Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America, Neil Young performs "Down by the River" at Miller Park in Milwaukee on October 2, 2010. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers.

For more information about Farm Aid, visit: http://farmaid.org/youtube

Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help — what can you do?

  • Grande Neil, sei sempre il numero uno!

  • Though I prefer it when there's a whole band and Neil's rockin it with his multi-minute solos, this version is hauntingly beautiful.

  • Is that Hank's acoustic behind him?

  • That was wrong what they did in Ohio !! What a horrible thing to have happened ! In the same generation was the draft (for the vietnam war). And the lottery. My brother got a high #, but a few of my high school friends didn't come back, or if they did, were really too screwed up. I don't know if PTSD was yet accepted as an actual 'disorder' at that time. But If your parents had money to put you into college, you were exempt from the draft. Again, all a terrible terrible tragedy !!! LOL

  • I go to work every day. I would have tidied up a bit. I don't see any negative in this. I'm sure that my hours are more demanding than his. I am jealous, actually.

  • @TheOthoudt yeah..if we could keep the negative down to a minimum please...thanks buh bye

  • Proving once again that "solo" does not HAVE to mean "acoustic"....so sad a song of love unrequited.

  • He looks like how I feel I look, when I run up to the liquor store for additional wine that I had not allotted for, on those rare days when the shower is put off until way later. I love Neil Young.

Excellent songwriter. My favorite ~ Wrecking Ball, and secondly, Sugar Mountain. The words are so nicely put.

  • @gibsonlesmike You are right...I closed the video before I heard Neil sing...I thought the audio was muffled but it seems Neil's sound man was asleep at the switch.

  • @TheOthoudt it's Neil's guitar's tone.
