hi these videos are recorded from the History Channel and I upload it here so that I can embed it in my blog. Feel free to visit my blog to see other documentaries I've uploaded.
Chiune Sugihara (?? ??, Sugihara Chiune?, 1 January 1900 -- 31 July 1986) was a Japanese diplomat who served as Vice-Consul for the Japanese Empire in Lithuania. During World War II, he helped several thousand Jews leave the country by issuing transit visas to Jewish refugees so that they could travel to Japan. Most of the Jews who escaped were refugees from German-occupied Poland or residents of Lithuania. From July 18 to August 28, 1940, aware that the civilians jews were in danger if they stayed behind, Sugihara began to grant visas on his own initiative, after consulting with his family. He ignored the bureaucracy and issued the Jews with a ten-day visa to transit through Japan, in direct violation of his orders. Given his inferior post and the culture of the Japanese officers, this was an extraordinary act of disobedience. It is estimated that Sugihara facilitated the escape of more than 6,000 Jewish refugees to Japanese territory, risking his career and his family's lives.
@tripper85 I think you are right. The number of dislikes is oddly high too.

number of thumbs down seem very suspicious. All in all about 35 thumbs down in each of the six videos..Normally when a person watches a video, and sees more than 40 % thumbs down, they normally skip it thinking its a waste of time..so in a way it was targeted by one disgruntled neo nazi perhaps. Really though its strange to hate on a man like Sugihara..even if your is anti-semitic, doesnt make sense to despise a non-jewish who was simply helping out his fellow human beings..

Sugihara (杉原) is a surname, and Chiune (千畝)a given name. In a Japanese name, a surname preceds a given name as Sugihara Chiune. Chiune can be pronouned also as Senpo, according to a an old Chinese way of pronunciation.
By the way, I was born and grew up in the same province in Japan where Mr. Sugihara was from. It is amazing that a small rural town has produced a diplomat as Mr. sugihara.

I'm baffled by the amount of thumbs down on these videos. How can you dislike a documentary about someone helping others survive?
Thanks for putting this up!
