@bilbomarks Sometimes less is more, and Isreal's Song has every note it needs to be a fast paced rocker. Which is what I love in a song. Don't get me wrong, a lot of Perfect From Now On (I really hope you meant that one, because keep it like a secret is so meh it hurts) is great, but some of it is so convoluted. Less is more, in some cases.
@TheNumberOneGuyDude I think israels song does have thoughtful lyrical content, but it's pretty weak (for btw) musically. It doesn't bring it all, in that way. Well, it may bring it all, but not in equal amounts. Keep it like a secret is their magnum opus, musically. Every single song on there is a gorgeous note experiment.
@bilbomarks The reason I replied is because it looked like you were implying they were gay for each other (Doug and Brett). That being said, Velvet Waltz is pretty fantastic instrumentally, but I prefer songs that "bring it all" to the table. Good lyrics, melody, instrumentals. The album Perfect From Now On, in my opinion, lacked the extremely human feel of There's Nothing Wrong With Love. And with THAT being said, I acknowledge probably less than 30% of music listeners care 4 lyrics
@TheNumberOneGuyDude Interesting, I suppose. I don't know what he's saying most of the time anyway, though. Not that it's unintelligible, but that's not why I listen to music, which is why isreal's song is not even on my top 10 bts songs. It's not as harmonically interesting as something like Velvet Waltz.
@bilbomarks Doug's wife writes a lot (about 50% is a safe guess) of the lyrics. Probably less contributions in the earlier days, but as the band has gotten poppier with time (as bands tend to do), I'm sure she throws tons of ideas his way.

Seems they're 'together' in this. Possibly best friends, but even their mannerisms. Hmm...
