In Swedish and German. 2009 Nobel Prize in Literature. Interviewed in Stockholm by Maria Magnusson for the channel SVT. Re-broadcasted on 8 okt 2009.

I risk departing from the subject, but: Müller speaks of growing up in a small minority language community. There are somewhat similar (but also different) questions relating to minority languages in Sweden. No regional dialects are recognized by the Swedish authorities. Only two territorial languages. Much more could be done for the sometimes very different and unknown dialects and their small communities. See http://www.scania.org/fuen2009/resolution_scania_2009_EN.pdf .

  • no entiendo, carajo!

  • Congratulations to Ms. Muller.

can anyone there post the video with English subtitles? I think it would be greatly appreaciated at least for US viewers. many thanks

  • powerful writing, overwhelming at times thank you Herta for writing about what it meant to grow up in a dictatorship your gift is undeniable; thank you Germany for giving her a voice and THANK YOU Sweden for introducing her to the world

  • she is from romania yay , she's from Timisoara and I'm from Timisoara too , i'm very very happy for her !

  • Congratulations! This is already the second nobelprize received by a "Berliner" ;-) Grüße vom LinguaTV-Team
