I had one of these fine boats and watching this brought back many fine memories. Our boat was quick and I can remebre being air bourne over waves here in Moreton Bay Queensland chasing Brian Hiller around the track. Thanks tochickenpayback for listing.

  • A real pity they're pretty much extinct today. Occasionally one'll appear on ebay or in the trading post, but that's about all you hear of them these days. I think the last rainbow nationals was held around 1990/1992, about the same time as the Gwen 12 died. By then they were very refined little scows and went like a rocket downwind. Sadly, most kids of the time wanted to race skiffier boats like 3o3s and flying 11s.

My parents sailed one together as kids in the 70s!
