if this has gps installed, how do you access the gps information i.e com port etc?

the barebone with no hard drive, memory and cd/dvd drive is about 1100eur. Just bought one from cartftdotcom

so, is this basically like a full blown computer? Say, would I be able to install programs onto it? such as my Zune software or AIM perhaps?

Yes, I purchased it from MP3Car.
I played with the navi a bit today on my way to work. It is not as good as the Garmin Nuvi unit I'm used to, but in time I believe this will be better. The main problem I have is that it's just different than what I am used to.
