  • @LaCarusiella if u call that thing that was done in mujras as kathak, i am not sure if u have taken ur lessons properly... and as far as hindu religion and its associates yoga, classical dance and music are concerned they were never to be a part of any religion. hinduism itself is a way of life. it doesnt have concepts like infidels and kafirs. this is one religion which said "vasudev kutumkum" we all are brothers and sisters 5000 before UN charter was written

  • @LaCarusiella what did i say.. i am not a fanatic,, i just quoted the real thing my lady... sry i didnt want to disturb u .. i think its the westrn society who has taken up what real indians( bharat) and india(hindus) stood for a couple of hundred years back...i was jst stating fact althogh my knowledge on kathak is limited it can never be called mujra

  • why are u calling thisperson a syupid fanatic?? you are the one who started the stupid conversation. ifyou expect people to just sit by and not say anything, then don't say anything at all because there will always be people to have a say. what you said is completely wrong. I agree with piratesofjalandhar. Don't say something you can't proberly back up.

  • why don't u just shut up you stupid fanatic!

  • Nicely explained by guru je.

  • Greetings, I am very interested in your comment, if you care to elaborate more I would greatly appreciate it. I am new to dancing but find it appealing, and I can't help but notice that everything seems to "meet" especially in dance. Forgive me but I am having difficulty expressing myself.

  • guruji i miss your classes!!!

  • I'm sorry but I have to disagree...I know Mujra,it has little to do with Kathak and its subtleness,in fact it's pretty volgar.I'm a Kathak dancer myself and apart from hindu invocations there are hundreds of ghazals and rythmic compositions that have nothing to do with mujra.Perheaps you are talking about Bollywood Kathak which includes a little bit of everything.I guess this is another hindu/muslim fight over it,since you fight about every single stone that is in India!!!

  • The dance performed in brothels is called Mujra it is not Kathak, it usually has some elements of Kathak specially when the dancer uses similar expressions which is also known as Thumri in Hindustani music. Majority Kathak pieces derived from Hindi scriptures, eg what the dancer performed is called the Aangikam sloka.

  • but it does have a religious origin. how do you suggest we shed it?
