A nice highlights clip of the coverage, three quarters into the race.
In order of incidents:
9.15:Seiji Ara jumps out of his burning #14 Viper Team Oreca Chrysler LMP. The driver has undone his belts and is trying to get out before his bum catches fire!
Ara is now on the mobile phone and is ringing the team, "the car is on fire how do I get home !" (In Japanese!)
12.30pm: The leading Audi R8 in the pits a bit early. They will now do the 'back end trick' with the transaxle, gearbox and suspension. This is good to watch!
It took 6 minutes and the car now has a fresh back end. I wonder if my Audi garage could do that on an A3 Audi!! It still leads by over a lap. Tom Kristensen tells us that the leading Audi did need to change the gearbox. It was not right in the wet especially third to fourth so he set out to gain some time to allow for the changes.
1.30pm: The safety car was eployed for the 4th time in the race! The real problem is that it is really is hurling it down here at the start finish but not at all too bad in the country. So we have standing water and dryish track .. a bit
dangerous!
Then at 2.12, the safety car finally go back to the pits to let the race to be resumed under racing conditions.
Eventually, the #6 DAMS Cadillac Northstar LMP 01 (driven by Christophe Tinseau_ pulls off at the Porsche Curves with just over an hour to go. The marshals push the car away behind the wall with a clutch failure.
@chizzejr
yup, so crazy, it's so crazy that since one else was able to do that that Audi had to discontinue that for good to keep the racing even steven. I disagree with it, but since other teams who pay their engineers six digits a year didn't try that Audi lost its dominance. What a joke! Still, it's a strong car. Despite having to change wishbones/gear cluster on 1, the car finished 3rd - nice - this year Audi will probably be saying to Peugeot "Welcome to my world, bitch."
