  • Ah...so GOOD. Yes, Murphy's great, as we all know, but Jerry Shea is SO open and naked, and you can see how they're totally committed to each other as actors...they are fucking IN that story, neck deep. Beautiful, brave work.

  • This is my FAVORITE musical, and this is my favorite scene, along with the scene when they have an aruguement while she's sewing. Donna Murphy is ezquisite and Jere Shea never got the attention he deserved for his wonderful performance.

  • i cannot believe that he was only 29 in this! so much raw emotion and depth for such a young man!

  • This scene has always killed me. Well really the whole show. First time I saw it I was bored...and for the next 3 times too....but it suddenly grew on me and I was obsessed...

  • COME ON!!! I mean cutting it off right THERE! REALLY?!?! not cool man, not cool.

  • This is truly beautiful. I almost never cry at musicals, but this scene is so emotional I can't help myself.

  • So amazing!!!

  • this is one of my favorite scenes. it shows true and deep emotion

  • I saw this musical in London and it was breathtaking. The "too much happiness" motif that Tosca sings is almost identical to at least 3 other Sondheim songs. lol... But putting that aside -- the raw commitment of the performers brings this tragic story to life with such beauty!

  • Yikes! I meant to give your remark a thumbs up and absently hit the wrong thumb. So sorry.

I do agree, though, that both p[erformers turn in a moving, really breathtaking performance. So grateful for the video documentation of this work.

  • So beautiful.

  • I'm right with you freedom.
