Because not everyone desires proffound music.
For instance, compare to art. If you, a complete amateur, were to look at a bunch of paintings, how would you know which is the best? An expert standing beside you might laugh like crazy at your choice and your 'bad taste', or so to say, 'none-desiring' taste :-)
The funny thing about music, is that everybody listens to it! But only a limited percentage have a desire for more advanced music :-)
Simple as that

does anyone notice the face reflected on the leg of the piano :D

Fanny Waterman, the organiser of the 'Leeds Piano Competition' said the Perahia is the greatest living pianist. She may have a point!

Murray is definetely one of my top performers! even after his memory mistake in 2:56 he is able to continue in a way that is absolut genious!

Profound. And how much hard work behind the effortless playing....Why don't all people listen to classical music is beyond me....

He makes it look effortless.

I've listend to Schubert Impromptus D899 since when I was 10 years old. I've played that CD every night when I was in bed, falling asleep. Still today I listen to this CD when I go to bed.

He plays it just the way I always imagine it to sound like

Great sound and interpetation. I am also a fan of the #2 Impromptu same Opus.
The only thing is have to critisize of perahia is that he needs to get fit and in shape so he can stay alive longer to keep performing and recording for the benefit of mankind!!!!!
