nice tv man......haha. couple things, it does have a backlight.....its backlit by LED, it is actually still an lcd tv, just backlit with led instead of conventional flourescent tubes.Also, check out my Quattron input settings video if you havent already. and lastly, if you can find a dvd that is thx certified then put it in and go to the options and select the thx optimizer. this is considered a semi-professioanl calibration. a few examples are......star wars episode 2, ladder 49,ed scissorhands
