War is hell.. when violence is used as the method to resolve a problem, there will inevitably be macro and micro acts of evil against civilians. I think people need to realize that everyone is capable of this kind of evil, given the right circumstances. When you train guys to kill, desensitize them to kill, and tell them that if they don't they could be shot or face imprisonment.. and then you put them into a hostile enviroment.. bad things will happen.. this should not be surprising to anyone..
