  • @Robinfuk Please refer to the response you did not read earlier.

  • @900impact Qantas needs short term profits or it will become another Ansett. It doesn't have a right to existence.

    For dummies - you're wrong.

  • @OzTrich08 "Left wing, right wing, I am wingless and tired of trying to fly. Here comes the ground."

  • @Robinfuk For dummies - Cutting costs brings S/T profit but at a L/T cost

  • @900impact tl;dr

  • He is there for the short term and will therefore look good to investors and shareholders by increasing short term profits (this will mean a big bonus for him) but the damage he has done internally to the team and operations, externally to brand image and brand value have undermined the reputation he speaks so highly of at the start of his speech. You can't simply apply accounting methodology to a businesses and ignore the real reason the airline has lost market share.

  • @Robinfuk He mentions the reputation but fails to see how that reputation came to be attached to Qantas + what strategies got them there. He acknowledged there was minimal growth within the airline and instead of understanding what in the external environment had changed, he announces this new structure that cuts cost. This direction does not play to internal capabilities nor external opportunities and neglects to acknowledge all stakeholders. Cutting costs brings S/T profit but at a L/T cost

  • Boy, Alan, didn't you get grilled mercilessly today by the Senate Inquiry into QANTAS. Deservedly so. Please get some elocution lessions .. & learn to pronounce the Queens English properly. Your bloody irish brogue accent is most annoying.

  • Well spoken Mr. Joyce, please disregard the comments from some of the lements of the leftitst scum who troll the net, spewing forth vile & spite. Long Live Qantas & Good Luck!

  • Alan Joyce is the man for qantas, what he is saying makes sense. I wish him well.
