  • I know, this sounds very scary. At the same time, the bible is the only book that takes us VERY seriously. E.g. the book of psalms is filled with questions "God, where are you?" and "why??!!". Same for the book of Job. Even Jesus cried out "why have You forsaken me?" at the cross. Yes, I believe that the bible tells the truth, but not like a no-brainer... or someone who is not allowed to have questions. But ultimately, trusting God is based on knowing Him, not about understanding everything.

  • It's very human to "demand answers". But do we have a right to know?? From whom do we receive that right?? God is God. Yes, you're right, if church people stay in their church and do nothing about the suffering, heaven cries. On the other hand, lots of good has been done and is being done to eradicate evil simply because people have listened to Gods call. Both things are necessary: praising God, so that He can put people on their feet, and help other people at the same time.

  • "Nothing shall stand In the way of the word"

That's all we need to know. Game over.

God has a divine plan folks, so what you do or say is already irrelevant. So why some people feel the need to 'spread the word' still mystifies me. Sing and be glad of God, yeah, I can fully appreciate that, but why not direct your energies to eradicating evil? Is that not what God would prefer? Does he just want you to sing about him and his word?

  • @NarcissistsDie: if believing is a kind of intellectual game, and/or God some kind of modern manager, you might be right. Unfortunately, we christians often do a lousy job in showing what it's all about. Sorry for that...

But if there's truth in the thick book, then it's all about a God of love and mercy (but not a Santa Claus). Not about perfect christians or a perfect world. Anyway, I cannot prove you that my wife loves me, but I know... same with God. Best advice I can give you: ask Him!

  • Did anyone notice that in the first few minutes, the drummer is drumming with two sticks in each hand? Very cool.

  • Awesome. Great song bij Iona. Great lyrics. Joanna Hogg has a voice you cannot forget. Thanks for posting, Jaap!

  • Such a stirring anthem! Love the power of the drums, Joanne's soaring vocals, the blend of the whistle with Dave's guitar. This is truly an epic masterpiece!

  • Jo doesn't have A voice....she has THE voice.

I will repeat again to you Christians, you have your book and you have God's word. You have NOTHING to question because you have absolute faith, God has spoken has he not? AND THIS IS MY POINT. The Bible IS the word for you, what else do you need, why should you question it? Paradise awaits you.

  • @jaapdesticker Hello God, it's me, you know, me? Anyway, can you just tell me what the divine plan is and why there is so much evil in the world? Can you explain why every 3.6 seconds somebody dies of hunger? Why every year 15 million children die of hunger? I mean, I know we're all born into this world as sinners but come on, these kids haven't even been given a chance to expereince life and know what this world is about. You're a God of love and mercy apparently. Just trying to do the equation

  • I always baulked at so called Christian rock music and never realised that Iona were such a band. It all serves to teach us lessons about life. Yes, I do not believe in the Christian faith or any other religious faith but this music commands respect. The passion and skill in creating this sound is without question and the fact that these guys are Christians isn't really an issue. They are just supremely talented musicians that happen to be inspired by Christianity.

  • You know, much as I can't stand Christianity ;-) that is some incredible music!
