Back in the early 1990's I had acess to the Tioga Central when it was based out of Owego, NY. One of the engineers a good friend was able to mount different horns on their Alco RS-1's for the day. I used to bring up mine as well. A sample of this.

Really fond memories, too, the rare times I wasn't Trainman or in the gift shop. Was offered a cab ride during our honeymoon, but I think I opted to stay with the missus.

It sounds like an older cast Nathan P5, Amtrak used a newer cast P5A. So yes, you're right.
