I bought my mah-jong set at The Game Keeper store in my local shopping mall. It's a deluxe set with player tile racks, scoring chips and 3 very small dice. It includes double sets of flower and season tiles, each in two different colors, as well as 8 jokers should you choose to play using them (I personally don't). The case is very large, lined with black vinyl ad has a handle. I bought it in about 1990 for just over $100, which was a bit high, but there was no internet back then, sadly.

Go to your local city, ask the first asian dude you see where the International District (or Chinatown) is, and look for some little storefronts. In Seattle you can get a pretty good set for under $40. Or if that is not possible you can find some decent sets online. Hope that helps!
