  • I'm a Democrat and I think Obama is sickening!!!!

  • State / corporate news works the same everywhere. Look at the way our news treats the Wall Street protesters. Any opposition to the real power is always labeled as socialist / communist.

I understand -- things were hot and heavy and lots of action in the streets, maybe your family got caught in the middle of a "rocks vs. tac squad" street battle.

Fortunately no one in your family is a journalist!

  • @marimbadearco I am only going by what my grandmother and other have told me. This was right after Zelaya was deposed so it could have been a local issue or just gang mentality that arose during that small window of confusion. Either way, I'm not condemning all "Red Shirts" but it goes to show how a small group of bad apples can ruin the overall image of an organization.

  • @Escobeezy

Thanks for a reasoned comment. Something that tells us a lot is that Chavez even comes into the picture -- Venezuela has had next to nothing to do with the program and few changes Zelaya was able to begin to implement. But even someone as basically progressive as Guillermo Anderson posted garbage about Chavez -- the only reason he is even mentioned is that the very right wing media decided to try and link Zelaya with Chavez.

And "red shirts" were NOT violent against others, please.

  • Beautiful report, you picked some very smart people there, pleasure to see these kinds of interviews...

  • @Escobeezy Or being "an ally of Chavez" or Lula actually meant something spooky and in any way relevant to criticising the repression of dissenting voices in Honduras.

  • @Escobeezy As if alleged violence on the part of anyone justified a campaign of murder on behalf of the state.

  • @Dondonovan Not saying that it's false or untrue in any way. My father is from Honduras and my family over there think things are better with Zelaya gone. What I was getting at was that it only tells one side of the story, and the majority support Mel who is a known ally of Chavez. My family tells me that many of the protesters or the "Red Shirts" were actually very violent against anyone against their Socialist Views. That is why I said Socialist Propaganda.
