@VS24AT I think Obama didn't cut the NASA budget, he actually gave NASA a one billion increase, he only canceled the Constellation program, because it was WAY behind schedule and had become too expensive (50% higher costs per launch as for the Space Shuttle)?

I thought he was going to "make jobs" instead he was cutting rocket scientist jobs and the spin off jobs went with them. Guess it's better to pay people to watch soap operas and not work while 'making job' in the post office delivering welfare checks to "the village idiots"

Private enterprise will NEVER build the capability of translunar or trans-planetary flight! Let's throw out that illusion right now! All a private sector company will do is low earth orbit. The risks of deep spaceflight are just too immense. Hence, only the government can effectively lead the way. Barack Obama is the WORST President in terms of the space program! His advisers on science & technology are complete hacks!

Well I'm sad to report that with the way politics are the moon missions have been canceled for the long run. lets not forget that if it was not for the cold war of the 60's and the race to win against the soviets maybe the USA would not of gone to the moon at all some times it takes some events to move things along only private enterprise could one day reach this but not the government as a whole so for now we could only dream again to go back.
