A couple of stoves in my preps. I bought the kerosene stove and oven from a website called St. Paul Mercantile. I also bought a bigger stove from them that can be used for canning. They have some of the fastest shipping of any website I've ever bought from.

  • I don't find a wood stove at Harbor Freight. What's the item number? Maybe they don't sell it anymore.

Did you get or make a rocket stove? I have one in the works.

  • @originaLkomatoast The stoves are seasonal items. I'm sure they'll be selling them again in the fall. After I made the rocket stove video I stumbled across another cast iron cookstove. That one is a reproduction of a cookstove and it has an oven in it. It is very efficient. I'll try to make a video of it so that you can see how it works. You probably won't find one like it but you could apply the same principle to making a stove.

  • Good to know. I have a feeling the solar ovens work best out west and now as well here in NC and surrounding states.

  • @Hoovesandpaws61 Right after I made this video I stumbled across a little cast iron woodstove with an oven. The woodbox is very small and the stove is very efficient. When I finish cleaning it up, I'll make a video cooking on it. What part of NC are you in? I bought the stove for $100 from a man in Coinjock and he has lots of stuff that would be useful to a prepper.

  • HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF A SOLAR OVEN? I AM THINKING OF GETTING ONE. THEY SEEM TO WORK WELL IF YOU HAVE A SUNNY DAY.

  • @Hoovesandpaws61 I tried making a solar oven, it kind of worked. The sun moved across the sky faster than I expected and I had to keep moving it every 20 minutes or so to stay in line with the sun. It takes several hours to bake anything in those solar ovens. I might be okay with doing that once or twice but if I had to cook like that on a regular basis, I think I'd shoot myself.

  • oven should work on the rocket stove!

  • Good to know. I'm in the Fuquay Varina area. I have a small farm and forever have had a garden and have canned the food I have grown. About 2 years ago I got a food dehydrator and that changed everything as far as putting up food. I still can food but I am learning to dehydrate about everything. I gradually slipped into becoming a prepper. You tube has been a help learning. I love channels like yours. Yours is now a favorite. I love seeing what you are doing next and thinking of.
