Perhaps, but Finland's hockey team was no pushover, ranked 5th best team in the world going into the games. USA was losing after the first period, and back in the locker room Herb Brooks told his players, "If you lose this game you'll take it to your ****ing graves!" And as he walked away he turned and repeated, "To your ****ing graves!"

I know this game wasn't for the medal, but when people think about the 1980 US Hockey team, they don't think about how they won gold. They think about how they took down the Soviet juggernaut. Winning the gold was great, but the fact that they beat the Soviets was way more significant, considering the political situation at the time.
