As a veteran I don't want special protection, just the same protection. Hate crimes is the biggest bunch of crap to come along. Enforce the laws as they exist, apply the law equally and there is no need for any sort of special thought control laws.

As for ryan who thinks veterans are victims, we are not victims. We are not victims for the simple reason that we will not allow ourselves to be victims. Save the victim mentality for losers in life who need an excuse to explain away their failures.

We it's clear she's too young to remember the abuse our returning veterans endured in the 1960's. Granted, they can take but they shouldn't have to. They have indeed been targeted, just mostly by the press and the left (oh, and the DHS).

@19mrcool32 You are completely wrong about our economic history. The middle class grew under Reagan because more poor escaped poverty, including more poor blacks. Obama's policy advisors included the heads of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The push to give home loans to people who could not afford them is what caused the economic crisis we have today. Since Obama has been in office, he has consistently done the wrong thing. He has cost our children and grandchildren trillions of dollars.

@roncram The destruction of the middle class started under Ronald Reagan when he fired the Air Traffic Controllers and the AFL/CIO cooperated with the Administration. Remember that Roger Ayles (Fox News) and Lee Atwater who inaugerated the politics of destruction. Atwater's protege' at the time was Karl Rove (I'm sure you have heard of him) 40 million americans are below the poverty level and about 60 million more are right on the brink of going into the poverty level. When the issue of hate crimes toward returned veterans was addressed, she completely diverted the focus to jews, black and abortion hate crime issue and implied veterans were not victims, completely discounting their needs of protection from hate crimes. She clearly has no regard for the men and women who died in the combat zone, or come back with PTSD, missing limbs, etc and were wrongfully accused of being baby killers. She forgot that Vienam was a draft war. She has no heart for the vets.
