During winter, it's common for baboons to 'invade' the suburbs to find food. This year was a bit early in the season!

  • Wow I have seen them before. But where is that?

  • This is in Cape Town, South Africa, near the southern tip of Africa.

The baboons live on the nearby mountain range and sometimes come down to forage near the end of winter when food runs short on the mountains. But this year, they came right at the start of winter, which is unusual. They also arrived on garbage collection day, which is why there was such a mess.

  • Yes. I know Cape Town well. I was born and raised there and visit on a regular basis. I am very familiar with the baboons around Scarborough and Misty Cliffs but your neighborhood looks as if it is Tokai. What suburb is that or give GPS coordinates (or approximate if you are worried about privacy).
