A Community of Friends:
Housing and shelter is a basic necessity of life, and all people regardless of circumstances should have a home. Supportive housing offers people a way out of a situation that no one wants to be in: having no stable place to live. It costs essentially the same amount of money to house someone in stable, supportive housing as it does to keep that person homeless and stuck in the revolving door of high-cost crisis care and emergency housing. ACOF's work benefits society by providing safe, decent and affordable housing for people who are homeless and mentally ill, many of whom have substance abuse histories and would otherwise be living on the streets.
