what was the editing technique at 6:40

The frame was split into to sections, and since the shot was on a tripod, you can split the screen in two fields without any notice. The clip was recorded with both them sliding, then walking back up the hill. I simply cut the clip of them riding and placed it on one track, then put the clip of them walking on a track below. then I slip the screen between the two areas.

Its fairly simply if you know these techniques in your editing software, most programs can do this. I used sony vegas
