So for the past few weeks we have woken up to a dirty bowl of dog water. We wondered what was causing this as we would put clean water in the bowl every night and it would turn out just as dirty each morning. We figured something was coming in, but what? One night, the dogs started barking and running towards the other room constantly, although, this wasn't too abnormal since they usually spooked at all the noises of the night. I didn't think much of it until I went to close the door so they would stop running out and I saw Skipper stopped dead-still on the entrance to the other room and growling. He wasn't looking outside or towards the doggy door but instead into the playroom. I stuck my head in and said "Oh come on Skipper, there's nothing here!" but then I heard rustling to the right and the sound of something nibbling on things. I freaked out and immediately brought the dogs in and closed the door. Now we figured we needed to figure out exactly WHAT was coming inside our house every night. I set two flashlights on the ground. One was pointed towards the doggy door and the other towards the dog water bowl. I set my camera up so the doggy door and water were both in view. I left it on recording, not thinking I would capture anything with only a 2 hour memory hard drive on the camera. To my surprise the next morning, I looked at the video and saw this massive raccoon waltz right inside and eat the dog food and drink from their water dish. I researched a little online and apparently Raccoons absolutely LOVE dog food...great lol.
Wow, that's crazy! I am glad that Skip, Bella, and Jack weren't harmed by the raccoon, not to mention you guys. That thing looked bigger than Skip! Wouldn't it be easier to shut off the dog door when you are sleeping so the raccoon can't get in?

@JustJesse197 Well, he's been coming for a while now so he's pretty attached to the house as a place for free food and water. If we shut the doggy door he might just try other ways to get in :x Coons are natural problem solvers so he wouldn't just give up and it might lead to more trouble. We're probably going to trap him/her and then release it at this one place where there are no housing developments.
