@JustWonderingHowToDo Truthfully because of the sheer expensive of the kit needed hats, suits, barges, umbilicals etc. Remember the schools don't have offshore backing or make money from oil revenue just from the students. For that you have to have three staff per class per day (just for the air course, Instructor, supervisor, standby theres at least 80,000 a year in wages alone at maybe 4 courses per year (13 weeks a course)) and that doesn't count the pier staff or the admin etc etc
really? I was thinking strongly of doing some courses there, really want to get into commercial diving, would you usually work in a fishfarm or shipyard before going offshore, I thought there was a demand for commercial divers? its alot of money to shell out if not much jobs at the end of it
Because they can. There used to be no training whatsoever required to do this job. ADC and whatever associations could make money off of it as welll as the schools. What you learn in school is not what you do offshore the majority of the time. Go to the school in La, you get the same card and it doesn't cost as much as these other places.

If you have not got a dad or brother as a supervisor offshore, you are wasting your money doing the courses.
Work is hard to come by ,when you do get it, it is for a few weeks. Do something else with your money rather than wasting it on diving!
