Del Monaco had an incredible powerful voice. In this is only surpassed by Franco Corelli, to me.

Del Monaco had the ability to hit that last, final high note - certainly not like DiStefano or Pavarotti - but didn't. Other than that, this is one of the most powerful, emotional, mesmerizing Nessun Dorma's ever. Of the dramatic tenors, no one was better than Del Monaco: to have that much power, with the warmth, emotion and musicality to match, is extraordinary. Great actor, great voice, commanding presence: what a joy it must have been to see him live.
