This video was shot on May 30, 2010.

By far, the most impressive train at Illinois Railway Museum is the Nebraska Zephyr, which ran on the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad. Pulled by a rare EMC E-5 (only one left in existence), the "Train of the Gods" is a complete train set consisting of lightweight cars. There is nothing like this anywhere else in the U.S. On select weekends throughout the years, IRM brings the train out and gives rides. Although we didn't ride the train, we did a bit of chasing. It really is amazing to see, and I highly recommend planning to see it if you are in the area! Also included in this video is a pair of Chicago, Aurora, and Elgin interurban cars.

I hope you enjoy the video!

  • Beautiful train, a great video! the next best thing to being there!

  • @mhm2472 Thank you. The train will be going to Burlington this year, and I will probably be able to catch it again.

  • This is awesome. Great job!

  • @TrainmanEvan Thanks Evan!

  • Awesome!! This is like a professional vid. Keep the vids coming. wny is the last car rounded?

  • @tsweather Thanks for the compliments! The last car is called the observation car. It was rounded to add a sense of style. It also provided great views for the passengers.

  • Thanks for a really well-done video of this wonderful railroad passenger train.

    I really enjoyed it.

  • Cool and interesting. I may be mistaken, but it sounds like the engineer is quilling the horn in which we only hear the Leslie A-200 "honker". (quilling - pulling the horn cord or lever slowly so that only the first trumpet will blow instead of the others). The A-125 horn next to it on the cab roof is not blowing at all. Great vid!

  • @stlgevo51 cool i actually have that car on my amtrak lionel set but wasn't sure why it was rounded.

  • @stlgevo51 but sweet
