you know linux has video editing tools

I still don't know why devs think it's a good idea to use D3D. OpenGL is faster and more powerful.

@NiGhtMarEs0nWax I still remember how you could choose between OpenGL and DirectX in Half-Life 1. *sigh* Friggin' frig. Thank god for Wine GUI frontends like PlayOnLinux, though. I mean, Linux can run a lot of "classics" pretty well, still, or some newer ones like Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, if you have the patience. And I mean, if you're running Linux, you have to have had patience to begin with, because you can do literally anything you want with it, only if you have the time.

Something like Garageband, I couldn't tell you. If you're just doing basic audio editing, Audacity is amazing. If you wanna PM me I can tell you a few methods I use to get audio editing programs that are effective. Cubase is a good one, anyways, contact me, I can most likely help you out.

@QbertTehKiller I'm not exactly arguing your feelings about mac computers. I'm curious of what would be the closest FREE program compared to Garageband for Ubuntu or Windows that I can download. I own and use all three o.s. worlds and I have racked my brain on this one. cheers

Ubuntu rocks my balls for minecraft and penumbra/amnesia, for all my heavy duty crysis and gta IV I have my trusty Windows 7 partition. I love ubuntu for it's features and server capabilities (for the most part) and I love windows for it's compatibility with damn near everything. As for being a mac user, Mac's are for douchebags, so I tend to steer clear of those expensive modern art computers.

@NiGhtMarEs0nWax Linux is very good for games. It is just that every game is made for windows.
-
@handofstand he's actually not telling he prefers OpenGL in Windows, but that they should code in OpenGL to get easy portability to Linux, which also HAS to use OpenGL...
-
@NiGhtMarEs0nWax For example, Warcraft 3 has an option to run using DirectX (the default) or OpenGL (if you make a shortcut to the game executable and then give the option opengl ("-opengl") it will run using OpenGL). World of Warcraft can be made to run using OpenGL the same way.
If you want more proof there are lots of games written using OpenGL, you just have to consider that to run on a Macintosh, it HAS to use OpenGL.
