At one point, they even considered mounting two of these to a CH-47 Chinook. Imagine that... a helicopter with 105mm howitzers on it. Crazy stuff, huh?

obivous but the first requirement for direct fire is minimal negative elevation that is not always possible (as mortar that can be devastating if man make a ground slope)
but ability to self defence by firing a 360° single shoot is very important for the crew morale ;
i think the anchor need a engine for being removed
