In the 1960s, Soviet pianist Maria Yudina recorded a monologue in Russian describing her poetic and dramatic impressions of Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures from an Exhibition" over her own, earlier, recording of the same work.

English text by Daniel Beliavsky.

  • why on earth write an english title for a russian talk? write it in russian and it'll gain russian people

    this is misleading

  • Please try translation! I speak five languages (none of them perfectly I must add...) but unfortunately no Russian, together with French they are the most beautiful!!!

  • translation please?

  • This Is a great post. But Yudina's comment is meaningless and shallow. It reminds me of the way our primary school music teacher made us speak of what we were thinking (or "feeling") while listen to classical pieces.. the top level suck-ups always managed to make up stuff about swans and quite forrest lakes and the snow flakes and butterflies.. for folks who don't understand russian, be informed - this is that sort of commentary. It'd be nicer if she would have actually talked about music.

  • Thanks for your comment--the translation will be up within the week. Best wishes!

  • What a blessing does youtube continue to be. Thank you for posting this, kind soul.

  • Great post!

    Thank you very much!
